NACD is kicking off fall with the launch of an online “Members Only” section!

In NACD’s Members Only section, you’ll find resources made especially for conservation districts and state/territory associations to utilize, including NACD’s policy book, a long list of educational and promotional handouts, exclusive district guides, and much more!

The best part? All Members Only section materials are free and easy-to-download. To learn how your conservation district and state/territory association can utilize these resources, take a look through this email that was sent to all districts and associations earlier today. If you have questions about dues payments or your NACD account login/password, please contact Director of Membership Kimberly Uldricks.

Mississippi River icon to deliver leadership keynote at NACD’s 2018 Annual Meeting

NACD is pleased to announce that the 2018 Annual Meeting in Nashville will feature Chad Pregracke – the founder and president of Living Lands and Waters, a nonprofit river cleanup organization – as the Leadership Luncheon keynote speaker.

Chad had an idea that evolved into a movement to restore one of America’s greatest icons: the Mississippi River. Through Living Lands and Waters, Chad and his crew have organized and led over 1,000 community cleanups on 23 rivers in 20 states, removing over 10 million pounds of garbage.

Chad received a standing ovation at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., from all four living former U.S. presidents for his inspirational message on dreaming big, taking action, persevering, leading and collaborating. He is also the recipient of several awards, including CNN’s 2013 Hero of the Year award.

To join us in Nashville and hear from Chad and other inspirational conservationists, register to attend NACD’s 2018 Annual Meeting – to be held January 27 – 31, 2018 – at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center here on our website.

Spencer Scott of Wadsworth, Nevada

For about a decade, Spencer Scott and his family lived in Washington state’s Okanogan Valley farming organic pears, soft fruits, vegetables, and nuts. In 2013, Spencer made a change by moving to Wadsworth, Nevada, where he formed a partnership with Nevada Ag owner Don Evans to increase food security in Reno and Tahoe.

Through the partnership, Spencer helps provide high-quality produce year-round to residents currently without access to fresh and healthy foods. Today, Spencer farms field crops outside in addition to running a 4,000-square-foot greenhouse outfitted with an advanced hydroponic system.

“Meet Your Farmer” is a brief introductory video of Spencer and the Nevada Ag operation which was recently produced by the Nevada Department of Agriculture. To read more about Spencer Scott, who is also the co-owner and CEO of Seven Stars Fresh Foods PBC, be sure to visit his profile on NACD’s website.

If you or someone you know is interested in soil health and would like to become a member of this growing, progressive network, please contact NACD North Central Region Representative Beth Mason at beth-mason@nacdnet.org or 317-946-4463 for more information.
