Dear Conservation Leaders,

As Chairman of the National Conservation Foundation (NCF), I’m pleased to announce NCF and the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) launched a campaign today to support the development of the next generation of conservation leaders. The Next Generation Leadership Campaign seeks to raise $100,000 by Dec. 31, 2018 to create an endowed fund for leadership development to cultivate future leaders in the conservation district community.

This endowed fund will provide crucial resources to engage, educate and develop the next generation of conservation leaders. As an added benefit, your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous benefactor to help give participants the tools they need to be good leaders.

As a conservation community, we need to make sure the next generation of leaders are developed and the locally-led conservation mission continues to be advanced. It is also crucial we raise awareness about conservation and why it matters.

I’ve had an extensive career in conservation over the past 45 years, serving as a district supervisor, state officer, NACD officer and as NACD’s president. I’ve experienced firsthand the value of what conservation does, as well as the necessity for organizations like NACD and NCF. Getting involved has not only been a way to further conservation, but a way I can personally give back to these organizations.

NCF’s mission emphasizes engaging and developing the next generation of conservation leaders. Getting emerging leaders involved and providing them with the tools, resources, training and advice necessary to become future conservation leaders is crucial to the sustainability of organizations like NCF and NACD. Through the Next Generation Leadership Campaign, your donation will help ensure the future of locally-led conservation remains bright.
